Cast iron cookware is a sustainable and healthy alternative to synthetic, non-stick coatings.
This SKOTTSBERG® cast iron frying pan has many fantastic features. It is pre-seasoned with vegetable oil so that food will not stick. It is also made of lightweight, wear-resistant cast iron. The pan is very sturdy and practically indestructible.
The pan heats up quickly, so it is very important to let it warm up slowly to prevent the base from warping. The handle of this pan is hollow, so it does not get hot. The pan can also withstand high temperatures, making it perfect for frying fish, meat, potatoes, pancakes or toast. It is strong, robust and works perfectly on any heat source. This pan can be used on an induction hob, over an open fire or in the oven (up to 250 ℃).
Why choose cast iron?
A natural non-stick surface and good heat retention are the main advantages of a cast iron pan. Once cast iron heats up, it stays hot for a long time, so food also stays warm longer.
Using the pan:
To keep food from sticking to the base of the pan, it is important to follow these steps. Before you start cooking, take the ingredients out of the fridge so they can reach room temperature. Place the pan on the heat source. Heat it slowly over low heat and add oil or butter only once the pan is thoroughly heated. When using the pan for the first time, make sure to use a little more oil or butter than usual. When ingredients stick slightly to the base of the pan, let them cook gently without trying to separate them from the base. You can also reduce the heat a little and calmly wait until the food releases from the base of the pan.
