The frame is sturdy, with geometry similar to a mountain bike, but it shapes a more upright riding position than a mountain bike – the hands carry less load and visibility is improved. Designed for longer journeys, it is often adapted for mounting various accessories such as mudguards and racks.
The material is aluminium, the most widespread choice. It is lighter than steel and stronger than carbon fibre, and is used in the manufacture of various types of bicycles. It offers the best price-to-weight ratio.
Plastic mudguards are often fitted to keep the bike's overall weight to a minimum while still allowing an additional rack to be added for carrying items.
Built on a 28" 6061 aluminium frame in black, with a 20" (51 cm) frame size recommended for riders 175–185 cm tall, it weighs about 14.5 kg. It runs a 3x7 SHIMANO drivetrain with ALTUS shifters, a CMR shock-absorbing front fork, hydraulic disc brakes, double aluminium 28" rims and MITAS Flash 42x622 tyres.
