The lenses are divided into categories according to light transmission. All Zeiss lenses protect the eyes from UVA and UVB radiation up to wavelengths of 400 nm. The VLT value indicates how much light passes through the lenses.
Category 3. Transmits 8-18% of light. Excellent in bright sunlight. Colours are reproduced true to the original. For example, for street, road and mountain biking, mountains, snowy conditions and at sea.
Category 2. Transmits 18-43% of light. Versatile, for sunny and variable weather. Eliminates blue and violet light. Improves depth perception and contrast and works very well in fast-paced sports and in situations where distances need to be judged. For example, road and mountain biking, skiing, golf.
Category 1. Transmits 43-80% of light. Lenses for cloudy or rainy days. Excellent in autumn and winter, when there is little light but it comes from a distracting direction. They protect the eyes and help you see variations in the shape of the ground as well as contrasts of light and shadow that are not visible to the naked eye.
Polarised lenses. Remove reflections and therefore work well, for example, at sea or on wet asphalt.
Mirror lenses. Transmit less light. Generally intended for bright conditions.
