360 mm long medium saw blade, designed for the Silky Bigboy 360-10 saw, for cutting fresh (green) wood.
The blade is laser-cut from high-quality Japanese SK-4 carbon steel and additionally coated with chrome to protect it from corrosion and harmful external factors. The teeth, arranged in 4 planes, are impulse-hardened, so the cutting edge is perfectly tempered while the core of the blade retains sufficient flexibility. The precisely sharpened, hourglass-shaped cross-section teeth have a completely smooth surface, which prevents the saw from getting stuck during use.
The chemical composition of the steel, combined with a unique heating and cooling process, ensures high metal hardness and flexibility. The high carbon content increases the steel's resistance to wear, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time. To increase performance, one of the blade's teeth is angled outward, which considerably speeds up sawdust removal.
The medium-type blade has 10 teeth per 30 mm of length. It is designed for cutting fresh wood. The resulting cut width is 1.4 mm.
Technologies
Chrome coating
Chrome plating makes the blade surface extremely hard and durable, reduces friction and extends the blade's service life. In addition, chrome plating protects the blade from rust and resin. Before applying the chrome coating, Silky polishes the blade to a silk-smooth finish, so the blade encounters even less resistance when cutting through wood.
Electro-impulse hardening
The tips of the teeth are instantly heated to a very high temperature. Since only the tip (the cutting part) is heated, the rest of the tooth retains both cutting quality and flexibility. Induction-hardened teeth last three times longer than untreated ones. They cannot be sharpened, and can be recognized by their black tooth tips.
Mirai-Me teeth
Razor-sharp teeth precisely ground into the blade, each with 3 cutting edges, resulting in an exceptionally smooth surface. For optimal sawdust removal, each end tooth (depending on the saw model) is ground outward. This patented MIRAI-ME technology allows the saw to be used for 3 cutting methods: cross-cutting (perpendicular to the grain), rip-cutting (parallel to the grain), and angled cutting. When pruning, a smooth cut allows the tree wound to heal easily. In woodworking, a smooth cut provides an excellent finish, so no sanding is required.
Gapless teeth
The teeth are precisely ground into the blade, each with 4 cutting surfaces. The teeth are gapless, so the cutting surface cuts straight into the wood and destroys about 50% fewer wood cells. The blades are ground in a double-hollow shape: the lower part (near the teeth) is thickest, the upper part slightly thinner, and the thinnest part of the blade is in the middle. This design has several advantages:
- Less force is required for cutting
- Sawdust is easily removed and does not get stuck in the wood
- Very clean cut, without breaking or tearing the wood
- Extremely precise and smooth cut
Silky technology
The blades are made from authentic top-grade Japanese steel and laser-cut. Their quality is unmatched: very hard and durable, yet flexible due to the soft metal core. Hard and wear-resistant - the chemical composition of the metal, combined with a unique heating and cooling process, results in high metal hardness. The high carbon content provides high wear resistance, so the sharpness lasts for a very long time. Soft and flexible - the saws are forged so that the core of the tooth is made of soft metal, keeping the saw flexible and allowing it to bite easily into the wood.
