"Lansky LKDMD" is a professional sharpening system consisting of 4 diamond stones of different grits, a clamp and guide rods that let you choose the right angle and fully control the sharpening process.
"Lansky" sharpening systems are widely recognized as some of the best and relatively most affordable professional sharpeners in the world.
Drawing on years of experience, Lansky created an extremely simple and effective system that allows you to select the sharpening angle according to the knife type and purpose, and to sharpen very precisely while maintaining a constant angle.
Unlike classic "freehand sharpening", which requires skill and experience, this system allows you to maintain proper angle control, so you can be sure the sharpening will be done correctly.
The result of this type of sharpening is easily predictable - the cutting edge is perfectly sharp and keeps its working sharpness much longer.
The set with diamond plates is designed for sharpening knives made of hard, heavily hardened steel, such as CPM-S30V or M390.
Easy to use and highly efficient, Lansky systems mean your knives will always be "razor sharp" and you won't need to buy several different sharpeners.
Construction and operation
The system consists of a clamp, metal guide rods and sharpening stones. A T-shaped aluminum clamp is used to firmly hold the knife in place, preventing it from moving during sharpening.
After securing the knife in the clamp's jaws (using the screws), attach the guide rod with the sharpening stone, then choose the angle that best matches the knife type and purpose.
The sharpening angle is easy to adjust - simply insert the guide rod into the slots with factory-set angles: 17°, 20°, 25° and 30°.
The clamp has a two-sided design, so to sharpen the other side of the blade, you just need to turn the clamp and move the guide rod with the stone, without disassembling the knife.
Sharpening angles
The clamp has 4 sharpening angles for various types of knives:
17° - fillet knives, kitchen knives, precision cutting tools,
20° - kitchen knives, pocket knives, small EDC folders,
25° - large EDC folders, hunting and outdoor knives,
30° - survival knives, heavy-duty tools
- Stones
The "Lansky LKDMD" set includes 4 diamond stones, allowing you to perform the main tasks related to repairing, sharpening and refining the cutting edge.
Steel plates with an evenly raised diamond coating are mounted in different colored polymer housings, allowing quick identification of each grit.
The diamond coating is harder than sintered carbide, so the sharpening process is fairly easy and fast, and does not require water or oil.
To maximize the lifespan of the diamond plates, do not press hard on the blade during sharpening.
Before use, clean the diamond plates with the nylon brush (included), then rinse them with warm water and a mild detergent.
The set includes the following stones:
- "Lansky Extra Coarse Diamond LDHXC" grit 70 diamond is used to repair and reprofile the cutting edge.
- Lansky Coarse Diamond LDHCR, with a grit of 120, is used for initial sharpening and repairing a damaged cutting edge.
- Lansky Medium Diamond LDHMD with 280 grit is used to achieve a working sharpness and to sharpen very dull cutting edges.
- Lansky Fine Diamond LDHFN with 600 fine diamond grit is used to refine the blade and quickly sharpen slightly dull edges.
If you want to increase sharpening stability and convenience, it's worth considering purchasing the LM010 clamp, used to attach the system to a table or countertop. A nylon cleaning brush is included in the set.
A closed polymer case makes it easy to transport the elements of the "Lansky LKDMD" set.
