Opinel Colorama 07 inox with hornbeam wood, green - a folding outdoor knife with a leather lanyard, a Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel blade, a Virobloc locking mechanism and a wooden handle with an attachment lanyard.
The 80 mm blade is made of modified Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel, hardened to 57-58 HRC. Thanks to its chromium content, this Swedish steel resists corrosion and needs no special care. 12C27M is a pure, fine-grained alloy with a high carbon content (min. 0.40%). It offers good wear resistance and holds an edge well. As a result, the blade stays sharp for a long time, resists corrosion and wear, and is easy to sharpen. The blade can be opened with both hands using the nail nick.
Exotic blade profile
This model has a yataghan-profile blade. The designer was inspired by the traditional Turkish sword with its distinctive upswept tip. The blade has a finely executed convex grind, which gives it excellent cutting performance and a very strong cutting edge. The sides of a convex grind curve outward and run smoothly from the cutting edge to the spine. This lets you cut faster and more efficiently than with a hollow grind, for example.
Wooden handle
The handle is made of French hornbeam wood with a varnish coating that protects it from dirt and moisture. It has the traditional oval profile that widens towards the end, so the knife sits comfortably and securely in the hand. A hole in the handle takes a lanyard, which makes it easier to pull the knife out of a pocket and lets you attach it to your gear.
Virobloc lock
The knife uses the Virobloc locking ring, developed by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc is made of steel and has two parts: a fixed (inner) part and a moving part that locks the blade in both the open and closed positions. The mechanism is easy to use, durable and reliable, which is why Opinel has used it almost unchanged for more than 65 years.
