Size chart / size information

Before buying, measure your head circumference and use it to choose the right helmet size. We recommend measuring with a string about 1.5 cm above the ears.

Every helmet is carefully tested in the laboratory, so UVEX guarantees the highest quality and functionality. Complies with the EN 1078 standard.

Technologies

MIPS is an acronym for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, an innovative technology that can be used in helmets for many purposes. MIPS was developed to make helmets safer against angled impacts, both in leisure and outdoor sports (climbing, mountain biking and motorcycling) and in the workplace. MIPS is a moving layer integrated on the inside of the helmet - closer to the surface of the head. This sliding layer is not rigidly fixed but can move back and forth by 10-15 millimetres. In a side impact, this range of movement lets the helmet structure redirect the acting rotational force away from the user's head and brain through a sliding motion. As a result, helmets with a MIPS system offer the wearer a higher level of protection than conventional helmets.

In-mould technology - the protective EPS material is moulded directly into the polycarbonate shell. This technology makes it possible to create a lightweight yet extremely strong helmet. An excellent bond between the polycarbonate outer shell and the EPS inner layer.

3D IAS - the sophisticated IAS 3D system ensures the best possible size adjustment for different head sizes and shapes simply by turning the adjustment wheel. The space inside the helmet adapts to the size and circumference of the head.

About Uvex

749749-27f6207e7858f2ba7484f1760acb89f5.jpg

The uvex brand (uv-ex = ultraviolet excluded) was first introduced in the the Mid fifties by Rainer Winter, managing director of UVEX WINTER HOLDING GmbH & Co.KG, based in Fürth, Germany, for a line of sunglasses. It soon turned into an umbrella brand for all their sports products and was then extended from the mid-seventies onwards to include the safety division.

From this point on, all sports and leisure products (ski, cycling and riding helmets, ski, cycling, equestrian and sports eyewear) made by UVEX SPORTS GmbH & Co. KG, Fürth, and all the products in the industrial sector (protective eyewear, helmets, hearing and hand protection, safety footwear and workwear) made by UVEX SAFETY GROUP GmbH & Co. KG., Fürth, were brought together under one brand: uvex.

In order to create a presence in the US market, a subsidiary company, UVEX WINTER OPTICAL, Inc., was founded in 1980 in Smithfield, Rhode Island. This subsidiary also produced protective eyewear in its own factory. In 1993, the uvex safety division was gradually sold to the French Bacou Group, including trademark rights in the USA. The sports division, however, was retained in full by the uvex group.

As a result, in the Western Hemisphere (North, Central and South America) the uvex brand name related to the safety division is now only used by the Sperian group (part of Honeywell International). uvex sports products however are distributed by the uvex group. In the Eastern Hemisphere (Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa) the trademark rights for both divisions are still held by the uvex group (Germany).
