TECHNOLOGIES
VECTRAN BREAKER - Vectran is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fibre based on a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid-crystalline polymer (LCP). It is spun from the melted liquid polymer Vectra and processed further into a multi-strand thread. Like spider silk, Vectran has enormous tear resistance at a very low weight - exactly the right properties for a puncture protection insert in a premium Continental bicycle tyre. A Vectran Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than a comparable nylon breaker, without adversely affecting rolling resistance.
