The shift levers are arguably the most noticeable part of the new Shimano DEORE XT M8000 groupset, and they play an important aesthetic and ergonomic role. The concave long-stroke shift lever, grooved shift lever and OPTISLICK cable reduce shifting effort by 20%, which is especially important for long-distance endurance racers, and create a better connection between rider and shifting mechanism. The 2-way release mechanism provides an additional gear-shifting option, while the improved Vivid indexing mechanism ensures shifting precision. Two specifications are available: I-Spec II (SL-M8000-I), designed for the new XT and XTR, and I-Spec B type (SL-M8000-B-I), designed for older or lower-tier brake levers, suited to different brake choices.This is the classic clamp-band version with a removable optical gear indicator. Not compatible with I-Spec systems!
- Instant Release allows faster gear shifts, as pressing the lever instantly releases the cable.
- Multi-Release allows shifting two gears at once in either direction.
- The levers also feature a 2-Way Release function for different riding styles or shifting (by index finger or thumb) from various riding positions. The upper lever still performs the same function, but now swings both ways. Pull it with a finger or push it with your thumb - the choice is yours.
