The shift levers are perhaps the most tangible part of the new Shimano DEORE XT M8000 groupset, so they play an important aesthetic and ergonomic role. The recessed long-stroke shift lever, the grooved shift lever and the OPTISLICK cable reduce shifting effort by 20%, which matters greatly to long-distance endurance racers and creates a better interface between the rider and the control mechanisms. The 2-way shifting mechanism provides an additional gear-shifting option, while the improved "Vivid" indexing mechanism ensures shifting accuracy. Two specifications are available: I-Spec II (SL-M8000-I) for the new XT and XTR, and I-Spec B type (SL-M8000-B-I) for older or lower-grade brake levers, adapted to different brake choices.This is the classic clamp version with a removable optical gear indicator. Not compatible with "I-Spec" systems!
- "Instant Release" allows faster shifting because pressing the lever releases the cable instantly.
- Multi-Release lets you shift two gears at once in both directions.
- The levers also feature a "2-Way Release" function for different riding styles or gear shifting (with the index finger or the thumb) from various riding positions. The upper lever still performs the same function, but now it swings both ways. Pull it with your finger or push it with your thumb - the choice is yours.
